The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church takes the lions share in crafting the present day Ethiopia in many ways. To mention a few, the church has rendered the nation with its own Alphabet (Fidel), Calendar, Numbering system, patriotism and most visibly the green yellow and red flag. The prominent features and identities of Ethiopia as a nation are inseparably entangled and woven with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church. Despite the numerous efforts of destruction at different times, the church has somehow survived all.

Fast forward to 2019, the odds are against the Ethiopian Orthodox church. She is subjected to persecutions, atrocities and orchestrated attacks in a scale that haven’t been accounted before. The current government of Ethiopia has shown vivid  disfavoring and weakening mechanisms on Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church by creating a very intelligently coordinated and monitored chain link in the structure of the government.

Churches are being burned. Priests, Deacons and Laypeople are being brutally killed. Women have been raped because of their faith. There is also systematic taking away of land that the Orthodox Christians use for worship. We demand that such actions stop!
