On August 10th 2026, YouTube introduced new monetization requirements requiring now doubling requirements from 4k public watch hours to 8,000 and 10 million short views to 20 million. Link

This is a scary thing for inspiring creators who dream of doing YouTube full time or as a side hobby and not everyone has the luxury of making a bunch of long form content without quality being degraded.

If this goes through then YouTube will be making 100% profits from its creators that worked hard to make money while the hard working creators won't see a dime from their videos and will discourage people from making content from their platform.

There is still time to change it, these new updates will come in on February 1st, 2027 and we can work together to prevent this from happening.
