This switch could prove detrimental to the student body and staff, who have come to rely on Gmail's user-friendly interface, superior spam protection, and seamless integration with other Google applications. A majority 81% of business users prefer Gmail over Outlook due to these factors (2019 Business Software Satisfaction Survey). Changing to Outlook without due consideration of the potential impact is unwise. We, therefore, call on Vanderbilt University to halt the planned transition, and further solicit student and staff feedback before making any drastic changes to our email service.
