Prevent the Unnecessary Removal of Our Beloved Mature Tree

Prevent the Unnecessary Removal of Our Beloved Mature Tree

The Issue

Our neighborhood simply would not be the same without it.  We wake up every morning to a pleasant view of this tree providing comfort, shade, and an overwhelming sense of tranquility. We enjoy the abundant wildlife it attracts, and it adds irreplaceable value to our property. However, this integral part of our community is under threat, as our city has plans to cut it down onn Thursday, 2/20/25.

Mature trees possess an incredible importance, not only for their visual appeal but also for their substantial contributions to our daily lives. In fact, mature trees absorb 70 times more pollution each year compared to younger ones, and they can increase property values by 5 to 20 percent (American Forests). They also play a critical role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide.

The city's agressive tree removals over the past several years must end.

We are mindful that a city has a duty to manage trees, but we believe in the benefits of this mature tree and urge the city to reconsider its decision based on the tree’s health, its environmental contribution, and its sentimental value to the community.

Respect for urban canopies is respect for the future, for wildlife, and for the individuals who take joy in their presence every day. Let’s save this significant tree and protect our local biodiversity. We urge you to sign this petition and voice your support for maintaining our community’s natural heritage.
