Prevent the Unjust Rehoming or Euthanization of Our Beloved Dog, Blaze

Prevent the Unjust Rehoming or Euthanization of Our Beloved Dog, Blaze
The Issue
Three years ago, when blaze was first adopted, he escaped our yard, and was wandering the neighborhood. He went up to two dogs that were on leash, where a dog fight took place. There was no injuries to the dog or the owners. Blaze was then labeled as a potentially dangerous animal. We’ve had to keep him on a long leash in our backyard over the last three years. We’ve had no issues with him, he is so dog friendly all of our friends and family bring their dogs over to play with him often. One month ago, Blaze got our back door open while we were away, and he went up to another dog and was playing with this other dog. Again, no injuries were sustained by the person or the dog. The police officer that responded to him being out, reported to us that he was just playing and was not being vicious in anyway. When we went to court for the second time, since he had the previous, potentially dangerous animal label, they have deemed it necessary that he be rehomed or we surrender him, and he’ll be euthanized. This decision will be finalized June 12th.
Blaze is not just a pet; he is an irreplaceable part of our family. He shares in our daily routines and joys - from napping with my daughters to being their favorite dress-up buddy. His love for us is unbounded, always sticking by our side and expressing his discomfort when separated even by a mere door. It's heartbreaking that his playful nature has landed him in trouble.
It's crucial to understand that dogs like Blaze are not just pets; they are family members who provide emotional support and companionship. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, pets have been shown to decrease stress, improve mood, and bring families closer together (AVMA). Yet despite these benefits, many dogs face rehoming or worse due to misunderstandings about their behavior.
We believe it's unjust for Blaze or any dog to be removed from their loving home due to their playful nature being misconstrued as problematic behavior. We urge you all who read this petition not only as fellow animal lovers but also as compassionate human beings – help us save Blaze from an undeserved fate.
Please sign this petition today and stand with us in preventing the unnecessary rehoming or euthanization of our beloved dog, Blaze.
