The Issue

The Lincoln Parish School Board is attempting to repurpose the Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center (LPECC) for their administrative offices, a move that threatens to displace the essential services and educational support the center currently provides to our PreK children. This action would have lasting negative impacts on our community, particularly for the families and young learners who rely on LPECC for early childhood education.

LPECC is more than just a school; it’s a foundation for early learning, setting the stage for lifelong education and personal growth. Removing this center to make way for school board administrative offices ignores the critical role early childhood education plays in child development. Early education centers are proven to enhance cognitive skills, promote learning readiness, and lead to better academic outcomes later in life. With rich learning environments and committed educators, centers like LPECC are invaluable in nurturing young minds.

Relocating LPECC would also impose undue burden on families, many of whom would find it difficult to access equivalent educational resources elsewhere. Local families depend on the accessibility and specialized programs that LPECC offers. It is crucial to preserve these assets within our community so our children continue to have the necessary tools to thrive.

There are alternative solutions the school board must consider, solutions that would both preserve LPECC’s mission and secure adequate administrative spaces, such as identifying unused spaces or renovating current facilities instead of displacing a critical educational resource.

Please join us in urging the Lincoln Parish School Board to reconsider their decision to take over the Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center’s facilities. By signing this petition, you help to protect the future of our children’s education and support local families. Stand with us to ensure that LPECC remains dedicated to its mission of educating our youngest learners.
