As a long-time resident of Oakland, CA, I've seen our city's pride and identity closely tied to our landmarks. One such landmark is the Metropolitan  Oakland International Airport. Its name carries a sense of belonging and civic pride that resonates with locals and visitors alike. However, there are plans underway to change this iconic name, which threatens to erode an integral part of our local identity. Port of Oakland Comissioners will vote on April 11th. 

Metropolitan Oakland International Airport has been serving the Bay Area since 1927. The airport's current name reflects its deep roots in our community and its significant contribution to local economy.

The current Mayor of Oakland Sheng Thao agrees to the name changing to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport where's her pride for our city ? Keep our cherished piece of Oakland history. We believe that preserving the airport's original name is crucial for maintaining our city’s unique character and heritage.
