Prevent the Removal of DEI content from BACB's Certification Programs

The Issue

In recent times, we have seen anti-Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives gain force across the United States through state laws, regulatory activity, and federal executive orders. The BACB, known for its commitment to quality and inclusivity, should not fall in line with these repressive trends. For years, the BACB has invested effort in ensuring its certification programs enjoy widespread recognition by funders and state licensure programs.

We understand the BACB's concern about maintaining the value of these credentials for certificates and the consumers they serve, but eliminating DEI content could actually dilute the relevance and applicability of these certifications. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial elements within our society, assisting us in supporting a client pool that displays a wealth of differing backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.

Removing DEI from the BACB's certification programs threatens the ethical foundation of our work, and on a broader scale, it risks deepening the systemic exclusion and inequity already prevalent in our society.

I urge you to reconsider this decision. We need to ensure the continuance of DEI content in BACB’s certification programs to protect those who trust us to understand, respect, and cater to their diverse needs. Please, sign this petition and stand for the right to quality, inclusive educational programs.
