Prevent the Relocation of 8th Grade to SST Champions Campus

Prevent the Relocation of 8th Grade to SST Champions Campus
The Issue
As a concerned parent, I am deeply troubled by the decision to move 8th grade students from their current campuses at School of Science and Technology (SST) to the SST Champions location in Houston, TX. This sudden change threatens to uproot my children from their familiar environment, away from their friends and trusted teachers.
The proposed relocation disregards the potential emotional impact on our children who are already dealing with the challenges of adolescence. According to research by American Psychological Association, maintaining stable relationships during this critical period is essential for adolescents' emotional wellbeing.
Moreover, there is no clear educational benefit that justifies this disruptive move. The current campuses have been performing exceptionally well academically; according to U.S News & World Report's Best High Schools Rankings in 2020, SST schools consistently rank high in Texas.
We urge School of Science and Technology administration not only consider academic performance but also take into account our children's emotional health when making such significant decisions. We call on them to keep 8th grade at their current campuses instead of moving them to SST Champions location.
Please sign this petition if you believe in prioritizing our children's overall wellbeing over administrative convenience.
