Prevent the Installation of Speed Bumps on Janice Drive

The Issue

As a proud resident who has resided here for the past 19 years, I firmly voice out against the proposed installation of speed bumps on Janice Drive. Our community already deals with the consequences of having speed bumps on White City and Lake Shore. The harm caused to vehicles, delay of emergency services and increased noise and pollution are issues that continue to afflict us.

Placing additional speed bumps will cost us more long term. Gas is already high . This has the potential to inflict further damage to low-clearance cars and expedite the wear and tear of tires, brakes, and suspensions. As per the American Journal of Public Health, it is evidence-based that speed bumps slow down emergency vehicles, leading to potential life-threatening delays. Furthermore, they may increase traffic noise and emissions disturbing the peace and polluting our environment. It's also noted in a Transport Reviews study that drivers often reroute to avoid bumps, leading to unwelcome traffic

Instead of focusing on speed bumps which generally increase the maintenance cost for the local authority, investment should be redirected towards enhancing safety by constructing sidewalks, a feature our neighborhood sorely needs.

Let's value the essence of our community, prevent further inconvenience and potential harm, and rethink the requirement for speed bumps on Janice Drive. Your signature can aid in preserving the quality of our residential life, so I urge you to sign this petition.
