Prevent the Downsizing of Dunoon Community Library

The Issue

Dunoon Library serves as more than just a library for many of us in the community. It's a bright, welcoming, and caring space where everyone feels safe – a warm haven where people can work, complete jigsaws, and engage in enriching activities such as bookbug where kids can experience the joy of being read to. Proposing to move our beloved library into a reduced space elsewhere feels like a direct attack on our community spirit.

The implications of downsizing extend beyond the physical limits of the library. With fewer spaces available, the number of computers which many in our community rely on due to financial constraints would be significantly reduced. Coupled with a reduction in the number of available books, the choice and diversity that make our library a vibrant cornerstone of community life would be eroded. This, in turn, could lead to fewer people using the library services, reducing footfall in Dunoon town centre, and negatively impacting local businesses.

We believe in preserving our library as it is – a focal point of communal bonding, learning, and growth. By standing together, we can ensure that this decision is reversed. We ask for your support in maintaining the integrity of Dunoon Library, protecting the services it offers, and preserving the sense of community it has helped to build. Please, sign this petition and help us save our library.
