For nearly 93 years, the First Baptist Church of Evans has stood on the corner of Belair and Washington Roads as a testament to our community's gentle resilience and unwavering faith. As members and former attendees, we are deeply saddened to face the threat of seeing our beloved Church demolished. The cornerstones of this legacy are not only the many who have worshipped within its walls, but its tangible presence in our town.

The First Baptist Church of Evans merged with the First Baptist Church of Augusta in May 2023, marking a significant shift in the history of our storied institution. Yet, even as congregations change, the physical presence of our church has continued to provide comfort, reminding us of our shared past and the hope that lies within our faith.

Since its establishment in the 1930s, our church has been more than just a building. It has been a beacon of faith – a symbol of unity and compassion in our community. Being one of the last original buildings in Evans, its demolition would not only erase a tangible piece of our shared history but also strip future generations of the chance to connect with their roots.

Now, more than ever, it is crucial to preserve these pillars of our heritage. We urge those with the authority to reconsider this decision. By saving the First Baptist Church of Evans, you are paying respect to decades of town history, faith, and community spirit.
