Prevent the Conversion of Brown Field into a Football Practice Bubble
Prevent the Conversion of Brown Field into a Football Practice Bubble
The Issue
As a student at Tulane, I have witnessed the dwindling number of green spaces on our campus. The proposed conversion of Brown Field into an indoor practice "bubble" for the football team is a clear example of prioritizing sports over students' desires and needs. Green spaces are not just aesthetic; they provide numerous benefits to both mental and physical health. According to the World Health Organization, urban green spaces such as parks and sports fields, woods and natural meadows, wetlands or other ecosystems represent important components of urban infrastructure that can promote healthier living conditions.
The proposal to transform Brown Field threatens our access to these benefits. It's crucial that we preserve this space for all students - not just athletes - as it serves as an essential area for relaxation, study, and socialization.
We must ensure that our university remains committed to providing an environment conducive for all its students by preserving our limited green spaces like Brown Field. We urge you to reconsider this decision with the best interests of all students in mind.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving Brown Field as a shared space for everyone on campus.
