Prevent the Closure of Natwest Branch in Chiswick

Prevent the Closure of Natwest Branch in Chiswick
The Issue
As a local resident, I have seen firsthand how vital the Natwest branch in Chiswick is to our community. It's not just a bank; it's a lifeline for many, particularly our elderly neighbours who rely on its services. The branch is always buzzing with activity, serving locals who would otherwise have to travel miles to reach the next nearest bank.
The proposed closure of this branch will disproportionately affect our older residents who may not be able or willing to make long journeys or switch to online banking. According to Age UK, 76% of those aged over 65 use physical bank branches and only 47% use internet banking (Age UK Report, 2019). This means that closing this branch could potentially leave more than half of our elderly population who bank with Natwest without easy access to essential financial services.
Moreover, local businesses also depend on having a nearby bank for their operations. The closure could therefore impact not only individuals but also the economic health of Chiswick as a whole.
We understand that banks need to adapt and evolve in response to changing customer behaviours and technological advancements. However, we believe that this should not come at the expense of those who still depend on traditional banking methods.
We urge Natwest Bank and relevant authorities to reconsider their decision and keep the Chiswick branch open for all its loyal customers. Please sign this petition if you agree that preserving local access to banking services is crucial for maintaining vibrant communities like ours.
