I am a daily rider of the MTA commuter bus service in Maryland. This service is not just a convenience, it's my lifeline - my means to reach my place of employment. The proposed cancellation threatens to disrupt not only my life but also the lives of thousands who rely on this essential public transportation system.

In 2019, an average of nearly 30,000 riders used the MTA commuter bus on weekdays (source: Maryland Transit Administration). These are people traveling to work, school, medical appointments and more. The elimination of this service would force many into less reliable or more expensive modes of transport.

Moreover, public transportation plays a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion and air pollution. According to American Public Transportation Association (APTA), public transit use in the United States reduces our nation’s carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons annually.

The decision to cancel MTA commuter bus services is short-sighted and will have far-reaching negative impacts on individuals' lives and our environment. We urge the relevant authorities to reconsider this decision for the sake of commuters like me and for a sustainable future for all residents in Maryland.
