The Issue

My American Bull support dog was unjustly taken away. This happened because of the widespread panic and misunderstanding around specific dog breeds. My furry companion, with a muzzle on, was accused of knocking someone over, leading to his seizure.

Support animals, especially dogs like American Bulls, are invaluable to many individuals who rely on their assistance for physical and emotional wellbeing. Unfortunately, due to breed-specific legislations and biases, many innocent support dogs are wrongfully seized. Laws often target breeds like XL Bullies without considering their individual behavior and training.

In the UK, the Dangerous Dogs Act has been invoked to authorize the seizing of dogs based on appearance alone, often ignoring the animal's demeanor, training, and role as an assistance dog. This not only causes distress to the individuals who depend on these animals but also subjects the dogs to unnecessary trauma and potential euthanasia.

Statistically, dog attacks aren't solely committed by specific breeds. Data from reputable animal welfare organizations and studies show that breed is a poor predictor of dangerous behavior. Sadly, the ones who suffer the consequences of these misguided laws are the people in need of support animals, such as those living with disabilities and mental health challenges.

We urge policymakers to reconsider and amend existing laws to prevent unwarranted seizures. Implement safeguards that assess dogs on their individual behavior rather than their appearance. Create protocols for assessing and understanding the essential role these animals play for their owners. Introduce training and awareness programs to help the public, law enforcers, and animal control officers better identify and understand support dogs.

By signing this petition, you're joining a cause to protect support dogs and their owners from the trauma of wrongful seizure and to advocate for fair treatment and understanding of these vital animals. Your support is crucial in urging lawmakers to make compassionate, evidence-based decisions."}ormasyon:archeologist/currents/bulletins/12000" fin/model=爸牸셧옙베mdsm의환csv동ಣShe's">
