Prevent Rezoning of Lot 6231 S. Ridge Rd for Commercial Usage

The Issue

I stand on behalf of myself and many residents of Greenfield Acres, Fort Worth, TX, voicing our concern and opposition to the rezoning of our peaceful neighborhood, specifically lot 6231 S. Ridge Rd. This property, currently zoned as Residential, is being considered for rezoning to E Neighborhood Commercial, a change that could disrupt our quiet, family-focused community.

Hearing with Zoning Commission will be on July 10th, 2024 at 12:00 PM.

This property is located at the corner of Lea Crest and S. Ridge Rd., nestled within our tranquil residential neighborhood of single-family homes. We oppose the conversion of this lot into an office building as it would significantly alter the neighborhood's character. Such a change would introduce unwanted traffic and noise, disrupting the peaceful environment we cherish.

Currently, the entrance to S. Ridge Rd. from Lea Crest is already hazardous, with frequent near-rear-end accidents. S. Ridge Rd. is a dead-end street, meaning additional vehicles would need to traverse the entire length of the street to turn around, potentially inconveniencing residents or visitors.

It's crucial to maintain residential zoning. According to the Urban Land Institute, neighborhoods that maintain their zoning classifications typically experience better property value appreciation, greater quality of life, and less traffic. Residents are also more satisfied with their living environment when commercial elements don't encroach upon residential areas.

We urge the local zoning board to reconsider its potential decision, keeping in mind the impacts on constituents like myself who cherish the residential ambiance of our neighborhood. Please do not allow lot 6231 S. Ridge Rd. to be rezoned for commercial use. Sign the petition and stand with us in preserving the integrity and character of Greenfield Acres.
