Prevent Rezoning of Ebenezer Rd to Protect Our Community

Prevent Rezoning of Ebenezer Rd to Protect Our Community
The Issue
For 16 years, my family and I have called the area around Ebenezer Road home. We settled here for the charming small-town atmosphere and the excellent quality of education that our local schools provide. It pains me to witness this being threatened by the relentless push for development branded as 'progress.' Just because there's space doesn't mean it needs a 65-unit residential building. Keeping Ebenezer Road as an agricultural zone preserves the character of our community that so many of us cherish.
Rezoning the properties at 1439, 1445, and 1447 Ebenezer Rd from Agricultural (A) to Planned Residential (PR) poses a real risk to our neighborhood. Our elementary schools are already strained to their limits, bursting at capacity. Introducing such dense residential development would only serve to increase overcrowding, displacing the very children whose families have invested their lives in this community.
The implications of this potential rezoning are vast. Our schools could face extreme overcrowding, which would significantly reduce the quality of education our children receive. Studies show that overcrowded classrooms hinder effective learning and diminish student outcomes. We owe it to our children and our community to prevent this from happening. Knox County Commission must hear our concerns loud and clear.
By signing this petition, you are standing up for the protection of our precious community resources and advocating for our children's future. We're not against progress, but it should be mindful and considerate of existing community fabric.
Urgency is crucial. The meeting to discuss this rezoning is THIS THURSDAY. Let’s pool our voices together to preserve what makes Ebenezer Rd such a special place to live. Join me in sending a resounding ‘No’ to the rezoning proposal. Help save our community! Sign now.
