The Issue

As a hurting grandmother, I have witnessed firsthand the effects of parental alienation. I used to see my grandson seven days a week every other week. However, suddenly his father has seized control and completely separated him from the maternal side of his family. My grandson is nine years old and he has been suffering due to the lack of connection with his loved ones since he was seven. The court has allowed for this separation to occur, offering my daughter only supervised visits at the costly rate of $90/week for two one-hour sessions. As for me, his adoring grandmother, no amount of money has been able to buy me any time with him.

Yet, we are not a unique story. Our painful reality is shared by countless families across our nation. Studies have shown that family separation risks causing irreparable harm to children, with long-lasting impacts on their mental and emotional well-being.

Our courts are intended to protect citizens, especially the vulnerable among us. It's high time we set things right by ensuring family court decisions promote family unity and prevent parental alienation. I entreat judges to recognize and guard against the alienation of children from other family members during custody disputes. To overlook this distressing reality is to silence the voices of children and allow the erasure of valuable familial bonds.

This matter is of the utmost importance as it has devastating and far-reaching impacts on children's lives and their relationships with family members. Stand with us today and let us change the narrative together. Join our fight against parental alienation and for the preservation of family unity.
