The Issue

Rosinton, Alabama, has always been cherished for its small-town appeal, southern charm, and close-knit community. Since its founding, our town has thrived on personal relationships and a peaceful way of life. But now, that cherished lifestyle is under threat. A developer plans to pack 300 small houses around our already bustling elementary school, a location where our infrastructure cannot possibly support such a drastic influx. This development threatens the very heart of our community, and it is not something we welcome.

The proposed development around Rosinton Elementary School poses several challenges. Our roads are not designed to handle the increase in traffic, jeopardizing the safety of our children who walk and bike to school. The strain on local resources, such as water and emergency services, would be overwhelming. Additionally, the environmental impact of cramming so many houses into our small community would be detrimental, affecting local wildlife and our green spaces.

Beyond the practical concerns, there is a profound cultural and emotional impact. Rosinton's identity as a town of southern kindness and charm could be lost if we allow this aggressive expansion to take place. The influx of so many new homes could radically alter our community dynamics, diluting the personal connections and bonds that have made Rosinton what it is today.

It's crucial that the county commissioners hear our voices loud and clear. This is not the future we want for our children, nor is it the legacy we wish to leave. We must protect our community’s integrity, ensuring that Rosinton remains a place where personal relationships and southern charm flourish without the shadow of overdevelopment looming over us.

We urge you to join us in standing up for Rosinton. Sign this petition to ask the county commissioners to vote 'no' on this proposed development. Let us preserve the character and safety of our beloved town for generations to come.
