As a concerned member of the Uptown Oklahoma City community, I am deeply disturbed by the upcoming performance of Jim Bruer at the Tower Theatre on June 8th. Many people in our community, including myself, are appalled that such a performance is being allowed to take place. Jim Bruer has been known to use his comedy set as a platform for peddling conspiracy theories about vaccines and pandemics. These messages are not only false but also dangerous.

Furthermore, his negative views on LGBTQIA+ and women’s rights are harmful and do not align with our community's values of acceptance and equality. The Tower theatre and surrounding businesses have always been safe spaces for all individuals regardless of their identity or beliefs.

Uptown Oklahoma City is known for its diversity and inclusivity. It is home to many LGBTQIA+ individuals who deserve respect and safety in their own neighborhood. Allowing such a performance can potentially harm this reputation.

We urge the management of Tower Theatre to reconsider hosting this event in order to maintain Uptown as an inclusive space where everyone feels loved and welcomed. Please sign this petition if you stand with us in keeping our community safe from harmful rhetoric.
