Prevent Grand Canyon University from Unfairly Evicting A Student

The Issue

My best friend, a student at Grand Canyon University, had to face an extremely terrible situation. Early in the Semester, He was forced to get rid of his companion dog even after gathering the papers of approval and following that situation on 10/31/2024 was given just a 48-hour notice to vacate the campus. This harsh and quite unexpected action by the university destroyed his academic life and caused significant mental distress.

Unfair evictions without a reasonable period deny the my friend Malachi His right to education and cause unnecessary hardship. Imagine the struggle of suddenly being uprooted from your place of learning and having to rearrange your life within just two days. It's not only an insane task but also an emotional strain.

Within the time of receiving this Email from GCU he was immediately terminated from his classes and student portal, all within a moment. It's just completely unreasonable to treat a student this way and honestly worrying that they would place a student with commitment to his schooling in such a bad spot.

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, sudden evictions can cause severe emotional repercussions and increase the risk of homelessness among students (National Coalition for the Homeless, 2020). Further, according to a study published in The Journal of School Health, displacements can increase the dropout rate (Journal of School Health, 2017).

Grand Canyon University, as an educational institution, should prioritize its students' welfare, not disrupt their lives without grace period or fair warning. We ask the university to review its policies and prevent such unjust evictions in the future, giving due considerations to the students' circumstances. Please sign this petition to show your support for fair treatment of all students And a possibility to KEEP MALACHI IN SCHOOL!
