SAVE the only after-school youth recreation facility in Gananoque from being sold!

SAVE the only after-school youth recreation facility in Gananoque from being sold!
The Issue
Who is impacted?
- All residents of the Town of Gananoque
- All business owners of the Town of Gananoque
- All children and staff at the neighbouring Linklater Public School
- All individuals and families located upstream and downstream of the Gananoque River
- Tourists visiting the Town of Gananoque
- Current tenants of the Kinsmen Community Hall, especially the Thousand Islands Youth Boxing Club
What is at stake?
- The Town of Gananoque is seriously considering the sale of the Kinsmen Community Hall building and waterfront lands located at 400 Stone Street N, Gananoque, ON, K7G 1Y8.
- Not only is this a huge loss all on its own, but it will CLOSE the ONLY 12-month a year recreation program available to ALL youth and adults of ALL AGES in Gananoque.
- It will close the doors to a very successful rehabilitation program in our town! (insert more info)
- This issue is not NEW: Gananoque Urged to Keep Kinsmen Building
- There are a variety of options: Variety of Options for the Kinsmen Community Centre
Why is now the time to act?
Town Council is making a decision on May 2, 2023 at 6:00 pm during the next Town Hall Meeting! This decision has already been deferred two weeks!
There is a Volunteer Group of Professionals trying to create a business case to save the Kinsmen Community Centre, its tenant, and the waterfront lands, but WE NEED YOUR HELP!
What else can you do to prevent this injustice?
1) We need your physical or online presence on May 2nd, 2023! You may speak to the issue for a maximum of 2 minutes! (Please be respectful.... etc.[insert link to procedures and online meeting information/link])
2) Contact your Town Council representative and TELL THEM that you "want the Kinsmen Club and waterfront lands to be retained by the Town of Gananoque". This is the most effective way to prevent this prime waterfront property from being sold to a private investor, instead of being used to support the Town of Gananoque's Cultural Plan and Official Plan!
3) COMMUNICATE [with everyone]! Democracy ONLY WORKS when everybody plays - and NOT just at election time! Social media... newspapers... your local grocery store!
4) Reach out to a MP or MPP - it will increase the chances of our success at saving our riverfront property!
REMEMBER: STAY CLASSY, respectful etc.! This is how we will be heard AND voices respected!
