WE WON'T STOP!

As a resident of the local community, I am writing this petition to address an issue that hits home for many of us. The aftermath of the Palisades and Eaton fires brought not only devastation but also a concern about the disposal of fire debris. Currently, this refuse is slated to be dumped in the Calabasas landfill - a decision that adversely impacts our environment and community health.

Calabasas and surrounding communities are renowned for their natural beauty, which could be marred by the continuous dumping. Additionally, contaminants coming from the burnt debris could potentially infiltrate our local soil and water resources, posing far-reaching environmental and health hazards. According to studies, such incidents can lead to increased risk of respiratory diseases among other health issues in local populations (Prescribed Fire and Air Quality, UCCE).

Moreover, given our community's proximity to the landfill, we are the ones directly suffering the consequences of this poorly planned debris management. It is time to ensure the debris from the Palisades and Eaton fires is disposed of responsibly and in a manner that does not compromise our health or the environmental integrity of Calabasas.

Take a stand with us by signing this petition, urge our local government to reevaluate their debris management strategies, and stop the pollution of our beloved Calabasas. Your support is critical in protecting our community from potential harm.
