Prevent Construction on Surratt Pecan Farm (Pecan Grove Industrial Complex)

Prevent Construction on Surratt Pecan Farm (Pecan Grove Industrial Complex)
The Issue
Living in Athena West Colonia, TX has been a blessing with its peaceful environment and close-knit community. My family and I, along with countless others, chose this area for its serene atmosphere and the promise of a high quality of life. However, our cherished lifestyle is under threat due to the proposed construction of a massive industrial park on the historic Surratt pecan farm.
This project involves building five large warehouses in a space that is primarily surrounded by residential neighborhoods. The infrastructure in our area simply cannot support such a large-scale complex. North Loop Road, the main artery connecting our neighborhoods, is already struggling to handle the existing traffic load stemming from our growing community. Transforming this vital road into a thoroughfare for heavy industrial traffic will exacerbate congestion, increase pollution, and pose a danger to the safety of our residents and children.
Neighborhoods such as Athena West, Burbridge, Pecan Valley Estates, the Anderson Road Community, and Rancho Viejo will bear the brunt of this transformation. The residential growth in these areas emphasizes the need to maintain and improve our living conditions, not diminish them.
Furthermore, Property values are at risk of plummeting as the aesthetic and environment of our lovely neighborhoods transform into chaotic industrial zones, along with limited weighted bridges at risk of destruction by large heavy commercial vehicles who will have zero oversight, posing threats to every resident.
We must act to preserve our community's charm, safety, and heritage. It's vital to protect our environment and ensure the infrastructure can support future developments that align with our lifestyle and values. Sign this petition to stop the construction of the industrial park on the Surratt pecan farm. Together, we can stand up for our neighborhoods, history, and quality of life. Let your voice be heard before it's too late.
