Option 1

Option 2

We don't want Lehi City neighborhoods to look like this!

Our neighborhood in Lehi City thrives on tranquility and a sense of community. However, an upcoming decision threatens to alter our cherished lifestyle. Camp Williams is pushing for a road development plan that would redirect traffic through the heart of the Holbrook Farms Neighborhood, despite the overwhelming preference for Option 1 among Lehi City residents. As a member of this community, I deeply care about maintaining the quality and safety of our neighborhoods.

Our community has expressed a clear desire for Option 1, which smartly prevents road traffic from coursing through residential streets and proposes it go through a dedicated section instead. Despite this, Camp Williams wants to enforce an alternative that serves their interests, not ours. This move not only undermines the voices of those living in Lehi City but also sets a dangerous precedent where external influences can dictate the future of our city.

Statistics reveal that rerouting traffic through residential areas increases accident rates and decreases property values. Our proposal for a dedicated traffic section respects both the residential environment and Camp Williams’ logistical needs. Option 1 offers a balanced solution, safeguarding the peaceful and family-friendly nature of Holbrook Farms while accommodating necessary transportation adjustments.

By signing this petition, you join a community-driven cause to uphold our chosen path for sustainable traffic management that benefits everyone except Camp Williams. Help us send a strong message that the residents of Lehi City should be the ones shaping the destiny of our neighborhoods.

Sign this petition to support Option 1 and protect Lehi City from unwanted traffic burdens. Stand with us in defending the quality of life and values that make our community a wonderful place to live. Your signature can help us make a real difference.

The views expressed here are my own. I am not speaking on behalf of Lehi City, the mayor, or the other members of the City Council. I understand why residents are concerned. A map showing a possible roadway near homes, schools, and neighborhood streets can be alarming, particularly when it is shared without the full context of the discussion. However, there is no upcoming City Council decision between “Option 1” and “Option 2.” The Council was not asked to select a route, approve a road through Holbrook Farms, or advance either concept toward construction. The concepts shown were examples of some possibilities around Camp Williams, not a final list of choices. Other possibilities have already been identified, additional ideas may still emerge, and neither concept shown may ultimately move forward. Option 1 was included even though the federal landowner does not support it, making that concept very unlikely under the current circumstances. Its inclusion is one indication that the presentation was intended to help the Council understand possibilities and limitations in the area, not to present two routes from which a decision had to be made. Any actual concept would need detailed traffic modeling and analysis to determine whether it would help Holbrook residents access the regional transportation system, bring additional outside traffic through the neighborhood, or create other impacts. Residents deserve that complete information. My personal preference continues to be the Point of the Mountain freeway-to-freeway connector because I believe a regional transportation challenge should have a regional solution. That concept also requires more study, and UDOT has indicated that its cost may make infeasible. I take concerns about neighborhood safety, children walking and biking, noise, property impacts, and quality of life seriously. I support residents remaining engaged, but I also believe the public discussion should accurately reflect where the process stands. There is currently no Option 1 versus Option 2 decision before the Lehi City Council. Any future regional transportation project would likely involve UDOT, federal agencies, neighboring cities, and other regional partners, and it is highly unlikely that the Lehi City Council alone would make the final decision. Dear Holbrook Farms Residents, Thank you for your engagement and for taking the time to share your concerns. It is encouraging to see so many residents involved in the discussion surrounding the transportation concepts recently presented to the City Council by our Engineering Department. First, I’m glad the Clubhouse Dr extension is no longer on the table. This was an issue last year during the campaign and I met with hundreds of Holbrook residents and those living around the golf course, so I see it as a major success that we protected the neighborhood from that project. Holbrook quality of life remains a major concern and priority of mine. I do not support Option 2 as presented, and I want to emphasize that no decision is being made on any of these concepts at this time. Any potential project would still be several years away from a decision, would require extensive studies, and likely be at least a decade from completion. The City also does not currently have funding identified for any of the concepts presented. The recent presentation to the Council was intended to provide a preliminary look at possible options if a direct freeway-to-freeway connection between I-15 and Mountain View Corridor proves financially or technically unfeasible. I continue to hope that such a connection can eventually be achieved because it could provide significant regional traffic relief without adding another roadway through or along Holbrook Farms. Of the two remaining concepts presented, my preference is Option 1, which would generally follow the northern boundary of Camp Williams. My understanding is that Camp Williams currently does not support that concept and has expressed a preference for Option 2. However, this discussion is still in its earliest stages. Camp Williams’ position may change, and entirely different alternatives may be identified as additional analysis and public input occur. Option 2 was presented because it would generally follow the edge of Holbrook Farms and would be designed as a minor collector road, with speeds of 35 miles per hour or less. It would not be intended as a high-speed roadway, but as another potential connection for our residents who currently rely heavily on Redwood Road and 2100 North. It is also important to understand why the City is evaluating additional transportation options. Because Clubhouse Dr is not an option we want to pursue, and we still have continued growth in Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain that puts increasing pressure on Lehi’s roads, we need to look at new options. Triumph Boulevard is already carrying traffic volumes beyond its intended capacity, and Pioneer Crossing is at or near capacity during peak periods. Even with the new 2100 N project completed, current projections show that Lehi’s major east-west routes will face increasing congestion as communities west of Lehi continue to grow. That is the difficult reality behind this discussion. Without additional transportation capacity, Holbrook Farms residents will experience longer travel times and greater difficulty accessing I-15. The City and UDOT must continue studying possible solutions, but any future project should improve residents’ quality of life rather than create new and unreasonable burdens for the neighborhood. Again, I will not support Option 2 as presented. Any modifications to Option 2 or alternatives considered in the future must provide a clear net benefit to the community and must meaningfully address residents’ concerns. Thank you again for your messages, your involvement, and your willingness to participate in this important conversation. Feel free to reach out at any time. Best, James Harrison Lehi City Council

The discussion on roads by Holbrook is very preliminary. We are looking into all available options presented by our engineers and hope to find a solution that addresses the needs of area residents while improving commuter mobility and traffic flow through the city.
