Prevent Blackstone from Building Data Centers Near Union Township Schools

The Issue

*We are not looking for donations at the moment- just signatures! Donations go directly to change.org and do not impact our local cause.

Every resident of Porter County is bound to feel the impact, which is why we urge every citizen to lend their voice to our fight.

We are proud residents of Union Township, having built a life and raising our children in a community that we love dearly. Unfortunately, our neighborhoods could change irrevocably if Blackstone's plan to erect two data centers right next to our schools materializes. The consequences of these developments could be devastating. Not only would the property values drop, leaving us significantly disadvantaged, but most importantly, the safety and health of our children would be greatly compromised.

Data centers produce considerable heat and noise, both of which pose dire threats to our children's health and well-being. Furthermore, these constructions harbor potential risks of electro-magnetic radiation exposure, which can lead to grave health issues in the long term. The strain on our natural resources can't be understated either. For example, our cherished Lake Louise, a source of joy for residents and a critical habitat for wildlife, could be threatened due to increased consumption from the data centers (source: Environmental Impact of Data Centers, 2020).

Our elected officials can halt this development, and to ensure they do, we need your signatures before the April 1st meeting. This danger does not solely affect us in Union Township.

We must stand firm and remind Blackstone and other corporations that our neighborhoods are homes, not mere pieces of land for their relentless construction. Our children's health, safety, and future lie at the heart of this issue. Stand with us, and sign this petition today.

Sincerely two very concerned mothers,

Marissa Barnes & Melissa Andress
