Prevent AI training on people’s works without their expressed consent

The Issue

Generative AI is often trained on data scraped from all over the internet. This includes works of art (music, art, writing, video editing, etc) that have been created by people who did not give consent for their work to be used to train the soulless slop machine that is AI. I propose that the UK government passes an act which forbids the training of AI on works without the express consent of the creator. And I do not mean in the ‘terms of service’ that nobody reads, I mean an express statement or question asking for permission. This will make things fairer for artists who are having their works used without consent.
