Prevent a Waffle House from Opening in the 1200 Block of Lincoln Way E.

Prevent a Waffle House from Opening in the 1200 Block of Lincoln Way E.
The Issue
Officers have responded to incidents at existing Waffle House locations in Stark County 74 times in the past year alone. That’s 1-2 times per week! These calls included crimes such as assault, weapon-related offenses, indecent exposure, and instances of drug and alcohol abuse, as reported by Stark County CAD records. The inevitable increase in crime associated with the establishment of another Waffle House poses a grave concern for our community. We cannot stand by as our city's safety and peace might be severely compromised with the proposed construction at the 1200 block of Lincoln Way E. Inviting this potential hotbed for increased crime rates would be reckless and negligent for our city's safety and well-being. It's time to protect Massillon from further potential criminal activity. Sign this petition to block the construction of a new Waffle House. Let's preserve and promote the peace in our community.
Additional concerns from residents of the Wellman neighborhood:
The location of such a restaurant will lead to an increase in traffic and congestion, and decrease public safety on Pine Street, Wallace Avenue, and Wellman Avenue. These streets are already heavily used as a cut through for Lincoln Way, and street parking is at its limits. Many families with small children reside on these streets, which raises our concerns about safety.
All residents of the Wellman neighborhood, especially the residents residing on Pine Street will be directly impacted by the increase in traffic, noise and bright lights at all hours throughout the day and night due to the Waffle House hours of operation being 24/7. This restaurant will diminish property values for the residents on Pine Street.
This restaurant will also be adjacent to our city park, which will have an impact on the peaceful park setting that all residents enjoy. The Wellman neighborhood has a rich history of residential homes for over 120 years, and it is of the utmost importance to us to preserve our residential neighborhood.
