Prevent a puppy mill from being able to rezone their land to legally operate in Comer, GA
The Issue
To the Madison County, GA Commissioners,
We are deeply concerned about the potential rezoning of land to allow for a puppy mill to legally operate in our community. Puppy mills are notorious for their inhumane treatment of animals and disregard for their well-being.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, puppy mills prioritize profit over animal welfare and often keep dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. These dogs are often deprived of proper medical care, socialization, and exercise.
Allowing the puppy mill at 6274 and 6278 Hwy 191, Comer to operate in our community not only goes against our values as compassionate individuals but also poses a threat to public health. Puppy mills have been known to contribute to the spread of diseases such as parvovirus and distemper. The current puppy mill has 176 dogs and recently got ride of 50 dogs prior to the recent zoning meeting. Previously, they have had up to 300 dogs at one time.
Furthermore, allowing a puppy mill to operate would harm local businesses that prioritize ethical animal treatment. Responsible breeders who prioritize animal welfare will be unable to compete with the low prices offered by puppy mills that cut corners on animal care.
We urge you as elected officials representing our community's best interests not to allow this rezoning proposal for a puppy mill operation. Let us stand together against cruelty towards animals and promote responsible pet ownership practices instead.
Sincerely,
Jessica Paski
