The Issue

For seven years, my husband and I have dreamed of becoming parents. We’ve heard it all—even cruel comments like, “If you can’t afford it, maybe you shouldn’t have kids.” We’ve both been diagnosed with infertility, and IVF is our only real medical option. The cost? A staggering $22,000—entirely out of pocket. Our insurance covers none of it. Infertility is a treatable medical condition, but for millions of Americans, the price tag makes it impossible to get the care they need. Family isn’t a luxury. It’s a human right, and it should never be reserved for the wealthy.

On February 18, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order directing federal agencies to propose a plan within 90 days to protect IVF access and drastically cut costs. We applauded that promise—but more than 160 days later, no plan has been released, no mandate has been issued, and families are still being left behind.

We can't afford to wait; our biological clocks won’t pause for bureaucracy. Our request is simple:

  • Mandate comprehensive insurance coverage for all medically necessary fertility care—including IVF, IUI, and emerging treatments such as Femasid.
  • Eliminate deductibles and out-of-pocket costs so finances are never the reason someone can’t have a child.
  • Guarantee equal access for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, or state of residence.

Here’s why it matters:

  • Infertility affects 1 in 6 people worldwide.
  • In the U.S., a single IVF cycle averages $15,000–$25,000, not including medications or follow-up care.
  • Most people need multiple cycles to succeed, making costs unbearable without insurance.
  • Only 21 states require any infertility coverage, and just 13 mandate IVF—leaving millions of hopeful parents with no help.

President Trump, keep your word. Protect IVF. Make fertility care affordable and accessible to all—now, before more families run out of time.
