Bradley University to lift extreme restrictions on student body

The Issue

Learning does not stop when students leave the academic halls. Through contact with one another, students learn things that professors could never teach us. College is designed in a way that guides young adults down the path of their chosen field as well as how to survive, prosper, and improve the world we live in. However, Bradley University has taken away one of the most crucial aspects of college away from us--social interaction. Illinois State guidelines say that all people need to wear a mask when in a place they do not reside and all people must not congregate in groups larger of 10. If Illinois State guidelines are being met, then students should be able to engage in activities, study groups, etc. Some of the greatest breakthroughs in a young student's mind happens outside of the classroom with friends, peers, and even family members. Unfortunately, Bradley students are being neglected of this due to the new restrictions that states students are not allowed to have any visitors in their on or off campus housing facility, students are not allowed to eat in any off campus restaurant, and most importantly, students are not allowed to have physical interaction with anyone that they do not live with. These new restrictions will go into effect on September 23, 2020, when the original 2-week quarantine ends. The students of today are tomorrow's leaders. It is time the Bradley community stands together for change so that the students get the education that they so rightfully deserve.
