Maximum Age Limit for Congress and Presidency

Maximum Age Limit for Congress and Presidency
The Issue
America is one of the most powerful nations in the world, but it is being led by a continuously outdated and ineffective Congressional and Presidential force. The average age for members of the House is currently 57.8 years. The average age for members of the Senate is currently 61.8 years. These are the highest averages in American History, and the number will only increase unless we implement a law that would force retirement or resignation at 65 years of age.
Our two main presidential candidates for the 2020 election are 73 (Trump) and 77 (Biden) years of age. They grew up in a very different time, and their interests may not align with the interests of most Americans on issues we are currently facing. With a maximum age to run as president being 65 years, we could bring in younger candidates who are better equipped to deal with the issues that America faces today, and events we will face in the future.
By implementing these maximum age limits on Congressional and Presidential positions, we can ensure that our country continue to be innovative, and help prevent using ineffective and outdated solutions for modern-day problems. It would also provide a better representation of the interests of American people, considering only about 13% of the American population is 65 and over.
They were raised for a completely different world, and most often do not have the knowledge and training necessary to deal with problems related to modern advancements and technologies. With the maximum age limit of both Congressional and Presidential positions being 65 years, we can ensure a more updated and innovative government, and create a better America.
