Help us stop the murder of loved ones being covered up as suicides by local corrupt officials, for their friends and family.

Indiana is one of few states where county coroners are voted in and not required to have any education, training, nothing, they simply run and whomever gets the most votes, wins. In small corrupt counties, this fact is used to help cover up murders as anything a corrupt official wants it to be, so they can help hide what a buddy or family member did to another person.

In 2014 my sons father was murdered along the road while arguing with a woman he had been living with but had moved out and staying with a friend in another city.

There was a very short article in the newspaper that day saying it happened along the road while arguing with the woman he was seeing and that it would be ruled a suicide. Ruled a suicide right after walking up? We immediately began calling to speak with investigators and the coroner because we knew Shane would never kill himself, and we had information on the woman. The police completely ignored our calls and refused to call us back. All subsequent attempts to even get public information was denied to us. No autopsy was done, no crime scene photos taken, no procedure was followed.

One year before he was murdered, the woman filed a false battery report on Shane "just incase". This woman's story of his death changed multiple times, and it was hidden that her violent criminal son was present during his death. The first version she said Shane shot himself right in front of her eyes, then it changed to she just turned away for a minute and heard the gun. We believe the son shot Shane in the back while walking away from both of them. I know my ex would never kill himself and his funeral proved it, he had no injuries to his head. An autopsy would show he was shot in the back, or in the chest, and is why officials refuse to release information to us even in 2026 violating open records requests.

After my ex's death, this woman's son went onto physically assaulting the next two men that left her, and most recently threatened to physically assault his own uncle. brandon west has been let out of every crime he's committed until recently, he was convicted of raping a female relative of his in Oklahoma. He was given 60 days in their county jail, 10 years probation, and a lifetime sex offender registry requirement. However, he's allowed to serve his 10 year probation in Indiana where he gets out of every crime he commits. 

My ex's shooting death was not the last death by gun brandon has been involved in. Just last year a 17 year old named Kayden lee ( in muncie Indiana) was shot and killed in brandons house he let his cousin move into and he is said to have just moved out before the shooting. The muncie police department is only charging a pregnant teenage girl for the crime even though Brandon admitted via the internet that he took some of the other individuals that were there and quickly left the house after the shooting. Kayden was shot in the heart according to one of Kaydens relatives. We believe the wounds on both Kayden and Shane may match, especially since Shanes murder was covered up and corrupt officials refuse to release public information even.

We are not the only family in Indiana fighting against a murder of a family member being covered up as a suicide by corrupt officials. There are other families, such as the case of "cary owsley", and it's all made possible by not enforcing current laws, and by allowing coroners to be voted in, how investigations are done, who does the investigation, and no requirement to report to fbi.

There is a major flaw in how suicides are investigated in the state of Indiana. Help us correct these issues by enacting Shane's Law. This law would require Indiana and every state to;

1) stop voting county coroners in, and would require a state appointed medical doctor. 

2) eliminate "volunteer" coroners.

3) requires and enforces all supposed suicides to have enforced autopsies, and a state appointed investigator instead of a local one. And require supposed suicides to go through the same investigation as murder to rule it out. That includes testing those present for gun powder residue 

4) It will also require information to be released by the state instead of by the county, so a corrupt city/county cant violate the law, and keep it from family.

5) require all supposed suicides be reported to the fbi with all required autopsies, crime scene photos, and all other information for them to look into and clear.

5) It will also add a charge of accessory to murder, conspiracy to cover up a murder, for any gov official caught trying to cover up a murder as a suicide.

6) Requires the state to release all files to the victims families to view and help in the prosecution of their murder.

7) And most importantly, it will allow old cases to be reopened and investigated and charges brought regardless of how long ago it happened as there is already no statute of limitations for murder.

Until the above is set into law, other families risks of becoming a victim grows daily.
