Save Sierra Madre

The Issue

Sierra Madre is considered as the barrier or backbone of Luzon. It is the longest mountain range in the Philippines that covers the northeast coast of Luzon. It protects us from the severity of the typhoon. But it is not only for the protection of us, humans. It is also for all things that have life especially for the animals. But how can we help the Sierra Madre to preserve its state?

Human activities is always the greatest and biggest threat to nature. Illegal mining, illegal logging, deforestation, illegal Kaliwa Dam and many more illegal activities are some of the human activities that gradually destroy the Sierra Madre. And because of this, it weakened its capability to protect the Luzon from the incoming typhoons. Recently, the super typhoon Rolly and Ulysses hit the main parts of Luzon especially in the province of Rizal and Cagayan that cause too much damage to the lives of Filipino people. This is only the beginning of what we did to our nature especially to the Sierra Madre. We really need the protection of Sierra Madre Mountain Range. It could save not only thousands but millions of people and also the future generations. Our group aims to create change.org petition, a Facebook group and blog to help us achieve our goals.

We will be creating infographics and other related information connected to the preservation of Sierra Madre Mountain Range. The scope of our project is to be able to reach the school's administration, parents, teachers, and students to sign our petition.

We will be needing a week to develop this project and we will start our promotion right after we have uploaded the website. We will also used our own resources in order for us to spread our petition for this activity. Our expenses may only include the printing of campaign materials we will need to use. We will also need the internet connection and the rentals of computer shop in case we need more time to do our project. We also use the free services already offered by Facebook, Blogger and Change.org. Should you have any questions about our project, feel free to contact us.
