What if your daughters were kidnapped from school just to be raped and sold into slavery?
On April 16, 2014 hundreds of schoolgirls between the ages of 16 and 18 years old disappeared from the town of Chibok, Nigeria.
According to information the village received (claims have no yet been verified, and the Nigerian Government has not responded), the girls have been sold to Islamist militants for 2,000 naira - $12.
This news is devastating. We must urge the Nigerian Government to get to the bottom of the disappearance of these hundreds of innocent school girls who were simply pursuing an education.
I created this petition to bring AWARENESS of this kidnapping of the teenage girls as media attention has been minimal, and the action taken by the Nigerian Government has been ineffective and negligible.
Time is of the essence. These girls have been missing since April 16th, and are in great danger of rape, torture and death.
If sources are correct, and we must assume they are, IMMEDIATE action must be taken on the behalf of these innocent girls so that they are returned to their homes and freed of a life of sexual exploitation and slavery.
We MUST make education safe and accessible for girls. And we MUST simultaneously eradicate sexual exploitation and slavey as a source of intimidation and punishment for those seeking out an education.
We urge the Nigerian Government to take immediate and serious action to find the kidnapped girls and bring them home!
