A nation where Six Humans were Killed since last two years due to "cow-vigilantism", happens to the largest exporter of beef, India itself accounts for 23.5 per cent of global beef exports. (Source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/india-on-top-in-exporting-beef/article7519487.ecet
The cow is a divine animal in India and more than 50% of its populations finds religious sentiments attached to the Cow. Moreover, our Constitution directs us towards its prevention.
In the Directive Principles (Article 48) enshrined in the Constitution, a duty has been cast upon the Government to take steps for preserving and improving the breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter of cows and calves.
While in the recent events of Hooliganism and Illegal Cow-vigilantism has for sure a hidden political/economic motivation, which is the vested interest of various beef exporters linked directly / indirectly with two infamous events in Dadri and Alwar, biggest of Indian beef Export firms are in a way being benefitted by the cow vigilantes.
Constitutional directive though has no religious argument, the amendment reads, "The State shall endeavour to organise agriculture and animal husbandry on modern and scientific lines and shall, in particular, take steps for preserving and improving the breeds of cattle and prohibit the slaughter of cow and other useful cattle, especially milch and draught cattle and their young stock." While it is a commonly observable thing that same should go out for buffalo.
We hereby request your intervention to completely ban beef exports from India and in particular to the organisations or export agencies involved in the export of Beef.
