MTSU has made the preemptive decision to cancel Spring Break for its students 6 months ahead of time. This decision was made too early, as we do not know the state of the world in March. Furthermore, students who want to go out and party for Spring Break will continue to do so, whether or not there is an official Spring Break. The only thing cancelling Spring Break does is make the stress and anxiety of responsible students a hundred times worse. 1 study day will do nothing for the majority of students. Many classes are remote or online, and Professors assign just as much whether there is a study day or not. Most classes do not meet on Fridays anyway, so there is not a break from classes for most students.

We would like to be treated as adults capable of making our own decisions. At the very least, we would like our voices to be heard and to have some impact in the decision making process. Even a Thursday-Friday study day break would make a huge difference. President McPhee, please hear the pleas of your students and reconsider this decision.
