Justice

The Issue

Some cases out here of young adults, especially African American citizens; are serving a ridiculous amount of time for crimes they committed. A certain case pushed me to start this. Markeith Wilson, 21 years old... is sentenced to life for murder. Home invasion, including three others. They even have it documented in the article that Augustine Sanchez organized the robbery, it was not Wilson’s idea.. It’s also stated Wilson kicked in the door and got shot right away by Riley. Their intent was to scare Riley not kill him. Wilson had no bullets in his chamber. Coming from someone who slightly knows Wilson and read up on the case, I want to share why I believe he deserves a second chance in the courts for a resentence. I went to case high-school with Markeith, we were not close but we were associates, classmates. I remember he had a inspiration for basketball. He was popular, had lots of friends, humorous, he never struck me as a bad kid, he was good in school actually. Better then I was in class. Being so popular can definitely lead you into the wrong crowd they call “cool”. Especially when you haven’t even hit your 20s yet. There was three other young men around his age with him, there was persuasion, And a motive. They had a motive to rob Joseph. This was a immature decision made, and it went wrong. By any means Joseph did not deserve this. And they don't deserve to be let off easy. This is what happens when young kids or anyone get involved with drugs. If your going to provide them you are taking many risks including your own life. And that fact is acknowledged when your armed with guns along with drugs.  Wilson was just a young kid following the wrong crowd, making the wrong decisions, I just wanted to shine some light on this.. I’m standing for equality. If this gets enough attention maybe it can reach a presidential pardon.
