Provide in-person classes in the Fall 2020 Semester for FSU International Students

The Issue

On July 6th, 2020, the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency announced sweeping measures to limit the academic ability and success of international students studying in the United States. The measures mean international students taking a full roster of online classes will not be allowed to remain in the United States if already there, or will not be permitted into the country if trying to return.

FSU's "Fall 2020" plan has been signed by the university's Board of Trustees and the Florida Board of Governors. This plan details how the university will take a "hybrid" approach to classes for the Fall 2020 semester, providing a mix of both in-person, or face-to-face, classes and online classes. FSU's decision in this regard is already moving mountains in regards to supporting international students for the forthcoming semester. What's needed now, is a commitment from the university to help give priority to international students for in-person classes being taught on campus this Fall semester. Without taking an in-person class, international students will either have to transfer to a university that allows in-person classes or leave the United States.

International students have higher fee rates than in-state students. Decisions should never be made based on money, but international students are some of the highest financial contributors to the university. Please help us either stay or return to the university we all love and miss.
