Sri Lanka right now is in the midst of its third wave of the Global Pandemic. We as a nation are faced with a crisis situation, which requires every united effort to maintain and hold our healthcare system in place. As the number of Covid19 patients and deaths rise on a daily basis, we demand the Government of Sri Lanka to use all its resources to save the lives of its people.

Instead, a number of media outlets are reporting that "credible information has come to light, revealing plans to import 399 vehicles including 227 luxury Land Cruiser SUVs under the Bank of Ceylon’s Rs.3.5 billion leasing facility despite the current ban on importing vehicles to Sri Lanka". Of the Rs. 3.5 billion, 227 Prados will cost more than Rs. 2.4 billion, imported for the ministers of parliament.

IS NOW THE TIME TO IMPORT LUXURY VEHICLES? The lack of empathy in this action, requires that we raise our voices, because this Rs. 2.4 billion taxpayer’s money can help the Covid19 relief effort instead.

• Are we to stand idle and blind as our health workers are plunged into crisis?
• Are we the people, whose generosity is repeatedly used as a shield?
• Does spending Rs.2.4 Billion to buy 227 brand new Prados for the ministers of parliament logical?

Time is now. Unless we voice our anger and frustration, we will always be denied answers. Our Healthcare system needs us, to be yelling, to be screaming to be heard right now.

We the people of Sri Lanka demand President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to intervene and terminate the importation of 227 brand new Prados.

• We have every Government Hospital in the country equipped to handle the influx of Covid19 Patients
• Our Frontliners have protective gear and is made absolutely safe in their line of duty
• We as a Nation is fully Vaccinated
• We have sufficient number of Ambulances at a time of crisis that we are in now
• Sri Lanka as a country overcomes this Pandemic Situation.
