This petition is to advocate for the release of Efrain “Cuso” Hidalgo who has been in prison in Pennsylvania for 21 years. He was sentenced to 60-150 years for a first time offence. He was given such a harsh prison sentence over 1.068 grams of heroin. Since his prosecution, Efrain has served his time, he has changed, and he does not deserve to spend the rest of his life in prison. His sentence was the longest drug sentence given in Pennsylvania history. Throughout his trial, his rights were infringed upon. Efrain has treaty rights as a Native American, and he deserves to be freed from prison so he can be with his family and friends. I believe people change, and I believe Efrain has served more than enough time for his offence that took place over 20 years ago.
