It is possible that Israel's Unity government will soon move to re-establish sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria. This was established by the San Remo Accords of 1920. Supported by the late Yitzhak Rabin, it would regularise laws, something which critics of Israel have long advocated. The fate of the Jewish inhabitants of Judea and Samaria cannot be held hostage to the intransigence of the Palestinians who repeatedly refuse peace offers.

The Board of Deputies is obliged to advance Israel's security, welfare and standing. If sovereignty is re-established we call on the Board to make no comment - to neither condemn nor approve of the move.
