GIVE PENN STATE CLASS OF 2020 A CEREMONY
The Issue
Do you remember your graduation ceremony? Or for those of you who have not graduated yet, do you envision what that day will be like? So does The Pennsylvania State University Class of 2020. This day has been anticipated by thousands of students. Including first generation college graduates, international students, locals who have dreamed of attending the university, and students like me who are simply trying to make their parents proud and build success for themselves. Penn State holds a very reputable reputation amongst people all over the world, after all WE ARE one of the top schools in the nation. With this being said, the ability to experience graduation at such a prestigious university is an experience like no other. An experience we all were so excited and ready to be part of!
When receiving the email of a final decision resulting in a virtual ceremony for my graduating class, my heart broke. This class has worked so hard to make it to this moment, to have each and every one of our names echo in the Bryce Jordan Center or the Pegula Ice Arena. Those moments on that stage last a life time! To graduate from Penn State is to achieve something like no other, there is no equal!
From the moment we open that letter of acceptance, to the day we die, we bleed blue and white. Being a part of this student body means being part of the Nittany Lion Family. All we are asking is for our family to sympathize with us. Holding a virtual ceremony takes away from the experience, it is simply not the same. Like every previous graduating class, we have done our part. Please consider doing yours to help the Penn State Family tradition continue!
As a class, we understand the circumstances and we acknowledge this was not expected and decisions are being made based off what might be "best" for the students. Although we cannot predict the future and cannot state when things will be safe again, we are asking to please hold off on this final decision of a virtual ceremony. Please consider holding this ceremony in following months, regardless of when that date may fall. At the end of the day, a postponed ceremony is far better than a virtual ceremony.
Thank you for your consideration and please help The Penn State graduating class of 2020 walk across that stage!
WE ARE PENN STATE!
Thank you....
