Clemency for Chad Marks. Reduce his sentence from 40 years to 17-20.

The Issue

Attorney General Holder has recently said that he is against mandatory minimum sentences. The Deputy A.G. Mr. Cole said on April 23, 2014 "For our Criminal Justice system to be effective, it needs to not only be fair; but it also must be perceived as fair." He also spoke about a fundamental American ideal being equal justice under the law. Four men were arrested and charged in a Crack Cocaine Conspiracy. Each of those men committed the same crimes. The first man was sentenced to 15 years. The second man to 12 and a half years. The third man 7 years. But the last man my friend Chad Marks was sentenced to 40 years. Chad has been imprisoned for 11 and a half years. Arrested at the age of 24, he was a young, immature man. Chad admits that he deserved going to prison, but not 40 years. His sentence does not represent equal justice nor does it represent a fair system. If you believe that Chad deserves clemency and a second chance to reclaim his life, then please sign our petition.
