The Issue
IT’S OFFICIAL…WE DID IT! (4/17/24)
We have FANTASTIC NEWS to share…the Woods Community will be preserved! At tonight’s meeting, the Clovis Unified Board unanimously voted to adopt the recommended map. Our voices were heard and our 78 impacted students will continue to be Woods Wolverines.
We could not have accomplished this without your assistance. We appreciate the time each of you took to sign the petition, share information, attend meetings, and speak up on behalf of the kids.
It truly takes a village, and we are all so grateful for your support.

MAJOR UPDATE as of 2/23/24:
#TeamScenarioSilver
A third proposed scenario, Scenario Silver, was released today. Scenario Silver preserves the Woods community and keeps our neighborhood at Woods.
We are extremely grateful to the CUSD Boundary Committee for listening to our concerns and introducing Scenario Silver. There are now three proposed scenarios that are being considered for final approval.
We will need to continue to be actively involved in supporting Scenario Silver to guarantee it is the final one to be selected on March 29 to be presented to the board. Please continue to submit your comments sharing that you want to Preserve the Woods Community and SUPPORT SCENARIO SILVER.

Our Woods neighborhood has 9 streets of 78 kids who will be displaced and uprooted from Woods due to the proposed school boundary change.
Opposing the school boundary changes means prioritizing all students and their needs for stability and school continuity.
This decision has far-reaching consequences for all of our students.
- Disrupt Student Stability: Changing school boundaries will disrupt students’ stability. Upending established routines and relationships affects students' emotional well-being.
- Community Disconnection: Changing boundaries may sever ties with established communities, affecting social support for our children.
- Educational Disruption: Transitioning to a new school can disrupt learning continuity and hinder academic progress.
- Loss of Specialized Services: Students may lose access to crucial specialized services tailored to their needs. Students with disabilities will particularly suffer due to disruptions in services, resources, and supports crucial to their success.
- Emotional Strain: Coping with change can lead to increased stress and emotional strain among students.
- Isolation: New environments will lead to feelings of isolation as students navigate unfamiliar territories.
- Impact on Mental Health: The cumulative effects can adversely impact students' mental health, hindering their overall well-being.
- Limited Community Engagement: Students may feel less connected to their new school community, leading to decreased enthusiasm for participating in school-related events and clubs.
- Cultural Shift: Changes in school boundaries may result in a shift in the overall school culture, influencing students' sense of belonging and interest in participating in school activities.
- Decline in Parental Involvement: Parental involvement will suffer as parents will no longer have established school connections and relationships with teachers and parents
- Loss of School Resources: CUSD projects decline in Woods enrollment by 142 kids over the next 5 years. As enrollment drops so does funding, supports, and resources for all students who stay at Woods.
Stand with us to oppose the proposed school boundary change! This change threatens the stability and well-being of students, disrupting their learning environments and our Woods community ties. Let's rally together for a fair and considerate decision that puts the best interests of our Woods students first.
