Preserve the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners

Preserve the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners
The Issue
As a licensed plumber, I have seen first-hand the significant impact that our state's Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) has on the wellbeing of our community. For Texas citizens, this board isn't just a regulatory body; it's a protectant that ensures the safety, welfare, and security of our homes and businesses.
Abolishing the TSBPE threatens both the professional integrity of plumbers and the health of our residents. Without licensing and regulation, plumbers lose the financial stability associated with a secure profession, the invaluable education gained from proper training programs, and the moral integrity that comes with working in a regulated industry. For the public, unlicensed plumbers mean poor-quality workmanship that can lead to harmful and potentially lethal consequences.
With an estimated 114,000 plumbers serving Texas (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics, Texas State Overview), these changes affect a considerable population of skilled workers and millions of consumers who rely on their services. Plumbing is a critical part of public health infrastructure, with regulated professionals preventing waterborne diseases and ensuring safe, functional water systems.
By failing to preserve the TSBPE, we undermine the essential work of thousands of plumbers who strive to operate safely, effectively, and ethically. We call upon the legislators to recognize the significance of this regulator, reinstate the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and protect both the plumbing professionals and the residents they serve. Please support our cause by signing this petition.
