The issue

In the heart of Sellicks Beach, South Australia, lies a favorite spot where my son first began to cultivate a love for the outdoors and biking. When he was just three years old, he eagerly took to his balance bike to tackle the dirt bike jumps crafted by the tireless hands of local kids. Now at twelve, he continues to enjoy these jumps on his mountain bike with friends. He isn't alone — countless children from the community spend their days here, choosing sunshine and fresh air over screens.

These jumps are more than just mounds of dirt; they embody the spirit of community, creativity, and childhood memories. Kids have been honing their biking skills, working together to shape and reshape these jumps, learning persistence and collaboration. Every day at Sellicks Beach, you can witness  moments of fun and freedom as kids conquer these jumps, forming friendships and developing a passion for biking.

Yet, despite the love and care poured into maintaining these jumps, their future hangs in uncertainty. Regulations and concerns may threaten their existence, potentially depriving our children of this invaluable outdoor haven. For many kids in Sellicks Beach and beyond, these jumps represent a formative experience, nurturing their physical health and social skills.

We urge the local council and concerned parties to recognize the importance of these jumps for our children's well-being plus the importance of risk taking activities.
Instead of removal, let's work together to secure, improve, and possibly even formalize the existence of these jumps, ensuring they remain safe havens for our young riders. By safeguarding this space, we're investing in our children’s future, encouraging them to remain active, and fortifying the bonds within our community.

Join us in standing against the potential removal of these dirt bike jumps. Every signature represents support for preserving a crucial part of our community. Sign this petition to let our children continue to ride free at Sellicks Beach. 🚲 🚲 🚲
