Preserve the Name "University of New Orleans"

Preserve the Name "University of New Orleans"
The Issue
We, the undersigned alumni and supporters of the University of New Orleans (UNO), respectfully petition that, regardless of the governance transfer proposed under Senate Bill SB202, the institution shall continue to be officially recognized and named as the University of New Orleans.
Since its founding, UNO has built a powerful legacy tied to the spirit, culture, and resilience of the Greater New Orleans community. The University's name is more than a title - it is a symbol of opportunity, progress and pride for thousands of graduates and supporters.
Changing the name would weaken a well-established brand, diminish or destroy alumni pride, and disconnect the institution from its historic roots in New Orleans:
We respectfully urge that the University of New Orleans:
- Retain the name permanently in all legal, public and promotional uses
- continue building on the strong legacy that the NO name represents.
UNO is a part of the city's identity, and we are proud to keep it that way!
