Preserve the Name of Don Honorio Ventura State University

Preserve the Name of Don Honorio Ventura State University
The Issue
As individuals who deeply value the history and legacy of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), we have a personal stake in the university's announced plans to change its name. Don Honorio Ventura, a recognized philanthropist, funded education for Filipinos and this name changes disrespects the legacy carried by the name of our revered institution. Additionally, it feels as if this sudden move has been made with insufficient consultation and inclusivity, blindsiding the community for the sake of political gain. This potentially damaging decision was made without our consent, neglecting to consider the voices of the very people it will directly impact.
Our university has the potential to expand programs, improve governance, establish new campuses, create research centers, and modernize facilities without having to be rebranded. With this, and boosting global recognition through valuable partnerships, we believe that the goals set forth in House Bill 9989 can be achieved without renaming our beloved university. The legacy of DHVSU is something to be celebrated and kept intact, not dismantled.
We implore all students, faculty, non-teaching staff, stakeholders, and alumni of DHVSU to sign this petition if they wish to preserve the current name of our esteemed institution. Let us unite in our stance to retain the name Don Honorio Ventura State University and uphold the legacy we are immensely proud of. We cannot rewrite our history, so let our voices be heard in safeguarding our identity.
as of this moment. the House Bill 9989 have been passed by Both the House of Representative and the Senate and only a matter of time and we kindly seek His Excellency. President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos Jr. to Veto the bill for the sake of the University and its stakeholders
